Medical Scientist (Grade 2)

Position Description

  • Medical Scientist Grade 2 – nexomics (Clinical Trials)
  • Full time (80hrs/fortnight), ongoing role 
  • Parkville location, with multiple public     transport options available  
  • Salary range between $94,478 - $106,906 + salary packaging + 12% super + 5 weeks annual leave + monthly ADO

The PeterMacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) is a Victorian public health service and aworld-leading comprehensive cancer centre, dedicated to excellence across allspheres of clinical care, research and education. About the team

nexomics is a dedicated clinical trial division within the Peter MaCallum Pathology Department. We deliver specialised clinical trial testing for internal stakeholders such as PCCTU and Research teams, under NATA ISO15189 and ISO17025accreditation. In addition, nexomics provides central lab services for clinical trials for commercial sponsors, CROs and biopharma companies globally.

About the role

The purpose ofthis position is to prepare samples for analysis, provide testing and assistwith method development within the molecular clinical trials team. Thisincludes reviewing and report authorisation, participation in the validation ofnew molecular based tests and training of staff in new methodologies.

A regularday will see you:

  • Perform molecular testing using techniques such as NGS, ctDNA, PCR and Sanger sequencing.
  • Review and report molecular results.
  • Maintenance of laboratory supply and equipment.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

About you

We are seeking a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, communicates effectively with both colleagues and external clients, and demonstrates the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks with confidence and efficiency.

You’llbring with you:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Scientist) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a medical scientist within the molecular area.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in diagnostic and/or clinical trial testing.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite and IT systems in healthcare setting
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, organisational skills, attention to details and a team player.
